January 16

According to some, we have a new, and 13th, sign in the Zodiac. Others say it’s always been. Then there are those who say it makes no difference. I, of course, have my own take on it.

If there is anything to astrological signs at all, I’d guess that everything astrological has to be taken into consideration. Modern measurements, discoveries, and knowledge, make it more exact and add new layers in astrology as with everything else. My gut, however, is almost always my final test.

Here’s my personal, non astrologically trained, opinion. The new stuff has value. Here’s why: I’m in my mid fifties now and was, I guess, born a Leo. I’ve always thought of myself as a Leo and I’ve done my share of roaring!

I do feel that I’ve changed through the years, almost to my core. While I hate the idea of giving up my roar, the fact is I have. I cut my waist length mane a few years back when having my mate see long hair spread across a pillow was no longer the primary consideration in it’s styling. My stilletos have thickened with my waist or have morphed into a wedge. I no longer care to be the leader, unless it’s a pack of one. I’m now surrounding myself with those who are younger and stronger, and, while not as wise, have open minds and great potential.

Perhaps the astrology we were born with was never meant to last a lifetime. Perhaps it waxes and wanes like the moon that lights the nighttime way. Perhaps the ancients just couldn’t measure well enough to know that change was constant throughout a life. Perhaps that wrong has now been made right. Perhaps one who starts out life as a Leo really does end it on a different note – albeit not as drastically as the “new” astrology might dictate. Perhaps the changes are small and gradual and imperceptible. Perhaps.
